Genesis announced their first North American tour in 15 years today, kicking off in Toronto on Sept. 7 and ending on Oct. 12 in Los Angeles. And the other 11 dates in between? WHO CARES, cause they don’t come within 800 miles of Seattle! As Gob, from “Arrested Development” would say, “Oh, Come On!!!”
“Dude, it’s Genesis. Let it go.” You say.
“Dude, it’s Genesis!” I say.
The first concert I ever got permission to go see, and I am slightly embarrassed to admit this, was Genesis’ “Invisible Touch” tour. I waited in line outside of Dillards for a couple hours, only to make it within 3 people before it sold out. What a way to welcome a 13 year-old fan to the world of live music. Boston’s “Third Stage” tour ended up being my first show, which is fine. But I’ve had a little hole in my life ever since that Genesis experience.
Couple that with my recent rediscovery of all things Genesis, and it’s a hard pill to swallow that I will have to travel a great distance if I want to see them. I have friends and family in a number of cities around this country, but none in ANY of the cities this band is playing. “What are these cities,” you ask? Here you go. Enjoy:
