I’m on a email list where LCD Soundsystem recently popped its electronic head in the form of “Hey, LCD Soundsystem is coming to town. Let’s get tickets.” And then the inevitable: “And avoid those nasty service charges.” I was chastised for not piping in, but then I’d never heard or maybe paid attention to the band/group. Certainly I’d heard of them, but wasn’t ready to pluck down money to see them live – service charge or no.

Then in comes “Sound of Silver,” LCD’s upcoming release. I pop it in the ole cd player (computer as it were) and “Get Innocuous” starts pounding through the speakers. And it’s good. Foot stomping good. It can be difficult to make electronic music interesting enough to capture a listener beyond the booty shaking, but LCD have done just that here. It’s their mixutre of funky, punk aesthetics mixed in with the beats and blips. Kind of like a more accessible Mouse on Mars.

Shoot, I might have to suck it up and pay those damn fees and get to the Showbox on May 2. Try out that booty shaking.
